eMpower Maldon is a Community Benefit Society based in Maldon, Essex, whose vision for the Maldon District is a sustainable future which nurtures and protects our unique local ecosystems while allowing our local communities to thrive. We work around the district to reduce negative ecological impacts, by encouraging everyone who lives and works in the Maldon District to become more mindful of their energy sources and use through our energy advice work as well as building community owned renewable energy projects.

Our projects will allow the local community to take ownership of their energy by finding and promoting opportunities for smaller, decentralised renewable energy networks; providing an income stream to community investors and community funds for the benefit of local people. As well as creating positive local change, our work contributes to the UK achieving its net-zero targets, as each project brings us closer to eliminating our reliance on fossil fuels and embracing renewable technologies. We want to work with schools, factories, farms, warehouses, leisure centres – if it has a large roof and uses a lot of energy, we want to use it for community energy!
